Daniel I. Block

Associate Dean, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY

Daniel I. Block, Ph.D., University of Liverpool, England, is Associate Dean and occupies the John R. Sampey Professor of Old Testament Interpretation chair at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dr. Block is the author of numerous articles in Old Testament texts and subjects. His most significant publications include a major two-volume commentary on The Book of Ezekiel and a commentary on Judges and Ruth. Dr. Block is currently working on a commentary on Deuteronomy, scheduled to be published soon, and a book on worship, For the Glory of God: A Biblical Theology of Worship. He is an active member of the Evangelical Theological Society, the Institute of Biblical Research, and the Society of Biblical Literature.

Ordained to the ministry by the Baptist General Conference, Dr. Block has served as Interim Preaching Pastor of numerous churchesBaptist General Conference, Evangelical Covenant, Evangelical Free, Independent, and Southern Baptist. He lectures and preaches frequently at Bible conferences and spiritual retreats.

He and his wife are both natives of Saskatchewan, Canada, and have two children and four grandchildren.
